A PUZZLE - COULD USE SOME HELP❣
Unknown maker - "740~4" on back rim; 11.75" x16.5" x 5"H; $12.91 on eBay.de 2018-2021; (TTM#4464; related to #3820 in 2021; almost the same cover design - 9.25"x12.25"x5.5", bought new & filled; 870/2 # on back rim of cover)
This chest is part of an unknown mystery at this time. First I have this on the Lebkuchen-Schmidt page, wondering if it was a fore-runner of their #735/xx Festive Chest series since 1956. Then in 2021 & 2022, an almost exact same cover design showed up on a straight-sided, rectangular tin, 5" high, used by 2 companies. There was a variation in the buildings in the upper left.
Now in the end, (at this time, 6-2026), I believe the #s with the helicopter icon are designated by the tin manufacturer, & the number change (i.e. 740 or 870, etc.) is/was related to the company the tin is/was produced for. Now it's a matter of discovering the tin manufacturer & asking them. The icon has been used since at least the early 1950s!
JOUSTING ~ 10"x 13" x 5"; bought on eBay.de in 2018-2021; (TTM#4327)
